Responsible for assisting stage technical team in the day-to-day operation of the entertainment venues, with a broad knowledge of lighting, sound and video skills Professional Skills • Assists with set up of shows, cabarets, lectures, presentations and ship events as directed, ensuring all areas are safe, clean and presentable • Assists with back-stage requirements before, during and after performances • Communicates with control booth and performers to ensure quality with disciplined and safe procedures backstage • Can trouble-shoot during performances – change mics, assist with immediate matters – costume, battery changes etc. • Ensures that design integrity and performance quality are maintained through the run of the shows. • Operates follow-spot when necessary. • Reports necessary information for the Stage Manager’s Voyage Report. • Maintains and performs minor repairs, general cleaning and maintenance of equipment • Communicates in a clear, concise and timely manner with Stage Manager and other departments. • Is on time for all set-ups, show call, meetings and work calls. • Participates in special events by assisting with sound needs. • Performs other duties as assigned by the Cruise Director, Assistant Cruise Director, Stage Manager. • Performs in a manner consistent with VOC’s Mission, Values and Vision, including a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Guest Excellence • Maintain, uphold and execute the Viking quality and Service Standards • Monitor guest satisfaction and report issues, concerns and suggestions Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position: - Technical theatre qualifications and experience preferred but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of sound, video and lighting equipment
- Ability to be flexible and willing to learn, with a desire to focus on a specific technical role for future contracts
- Must have the ability to stand, kneel or crouch.
- Must have the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
