JOB PURPOSE The Linen Keeper works within the laundry section of the Housekeeping Department and is responsible keep in order the entire ship’s inventory of linen, terry (toweling) bed wear, drapery (curtains), and all software furnishings for the ship. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Have a complete orientation of the ship’s wardrobe and Uniform department to understand the material (consumables) required to provide a repair and alteration service where required for all uniforms. • In accordance with the operating hours of the Laundry, be on duty punctually each day, establishing meal hours and breaks in cooperation with the Chief Laundryman to provide a tailoring service at the most appropriate time. • Use all electromechanical appliances (machinery) only in accordance with the instructions relating to that specific machinery. • Attend all training courses as required by the Chief Laundryman and Housekeeper. • Where required by the Chief Laundryman or Housekeeper, provide a mending or alteration service for Guests. QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience) • Middle or High School Graduate • Documented experience as a linen keeper • Ability to maintain in good condition all storage procedures and inventory control. | |
