Job DescriptionASSISTANT CASINO MANAGER
To supervise the activities of the Casino working in conjunction with the Casino Manager to coordinate, schedule, and manage the day-to-day operations and associated activities of the Casino.
STATUTE REQUIREMENTS - High school graduate
- Basic Safety Training (BST) and all other certification and documentation in force at the time of
- engagement compliant with the flag state requirements of the vessel.
- Passports, visas, permits as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and
- entry into the destination cruising area.
- Validated current documentation certifying the health and fitness of the applicant meets fundamental
- requirements of seagoing personnel on basis of assigned office and verifying all sanitary precautions have
- been taken against diseases that may be endemic to the cruising area.
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This
- includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively
- present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Italian, Spanish, French or German preferred.
- Read understand and implement Mission Statement of the Company and the Crew Regulations,
- ensuring all Casino personnel comply accordingly.
- Wear the prescribed uniform and Name Badge at all times on board whether on or off duty.
- Attend all emergency drills, carry the personal emergency card, and understand emergency·

- Experience internally as a Casino Senior Inspector with consistently high performance ratings or
- managerial experience in a land based casino or cruise line.
- Ability to manage the financial aspects of a casino operation through cost efficiencies and
- revenue growth through promotional and up-selling activities.
- Ability to manage headcount within area as it relates to and supports the business needs of the
- vessel. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service
- Knowledge of policies and practices involved in the human resources function.
- Ability to manage the international staff in a positive and productive manner by motivating,
- developing and managing employees as they work.
- Ability to utilize and administer the disciplinary action process through coaching and counseling
- to improve performance.
- Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety
- software packages such as Excel, Word, or related programs.
- Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- MSC expects each shipboard management team member to relentlessly exemplify all duties and
- responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with MSC standards, environmental and safety policies.
- In accordance with MSC philosophy of each employee conducts oneself in a professional and
- courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or
- fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew areas.
- In conjunction with the Casino Manager directs the overall casino and gaming function onboard
- the vessel. Creates an entertaining gaming environment, to attract and retain guest attention.
- Oversees the assignment of duties, responsibilities and workstations to Casino employees.
- Observes and evaluates employees and work procedures to ensure quality standards and
- service are met.
- Mentors, develops and provides on-the-job training to subordinates to strengthen their current
- performance and preparation for future advancement.
- Reviews financial transactions to ensure an efficient operation. Constantly reviews current
- operating procedures for revenue-enhancement opportunities, through shipboard marketing
- efforts, up selling programs, and special promotions, etc.
- Implements MSC Standards for the casino function. Monitors the casino staff to ensure
- procedures and services are performed in accordance with MSC brand standards. Reviews
- audit comments, discusses with subordinate management, and implements audit
- recommendations.
- Oversees all casino operations, presentations, activities and quality in all venues. Observes
- preparation to ensure quality standards are met. Oversees the care and maintenance of all
- equipment, props, supplies, etc. Oversees all special events conducted onboard the vessel
- requiring the casino staff.
- On a regular basis, meets with subordinate managers and staff, to review the requirements of
- the day’s schedule, international guest requirements and disseminates any other company
- related correspondence, notices, policies, procedures, etc. Reviews schedule to estimate time
- requirements to ensure speed and efficiency. Meets with shipboard managers and/or staff to
- review guest comments to implement revisions and improvements.
- Maintains a high degree of “floor presence” to observe the casino games, slot machines, cash
- desk to minimize security and fraud issues. Monitors the casino staff to ensure procedures and
- services are performed in accordance with MSC standards. Oversees the cash handling
- functions to ensure the counting and reconciliation processes are conducted according to
- established procedures.
- Investigates and resolves casino quality and service complaints in a timely fashion, and always
- with a view to exceeding the expectations of our guests.
- Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.
- Where appropriate, initiates meetings to address and resolve quality concerns and to
- continuously identify improvement opportunities.
